Sigma has released new lenses for DX cameras (with an APS-C size image sensor). All of the new products are something I would gladly take.
First one on the left (in the photo above) is Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM, fast replacement for standard 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. It has a larger aperture, built-in focusing motor (HSM) and optical stabilizer (OS). Lens diameter is 77mm.
The one in the middle is Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM, really wide angle lens with built-in focusing motor (HSM). It’s quite slow but wide angle is something you usually use outdoors for landscapes (lots…

I have a LBA, lens buy addiction. It extends beyond lenses too, I crave for cameras, films and exposure meters. Here are three of my latest purchases.
Nikon Series E 28mm f/2.8 wide angle lens arrived from Netherlands. I will use it with both digital SLR (Nikon D80) and film SLR (Nikon EM). Series E lenses were designed and manufactured for the low-end amateur SLR, Nikon EM, at the end of 1970s. The series include 8 lenses, and I currently have 3 of them. 28mm lens will give a 75-degree angle on Nikon EM and approximately 54-degree angle on DX…

Finland’s post (Posti, Itella) has lost a package that was coming from Germany. The package includes a second-hand Carl Zeiss Flektogon 50mm f/4 lens for Kiev 60/Pentacon Six. Obviously I’m pretty pissed about this.
The package was sent from Germany on 29th of January by DHL. It arrived to destination country (Finland in this case) on 3rd of February. DHL Germany’s tracking does not go farther than that, the tracking (and delivery) should have shifted to Posti. Posti does not have a glue where the package might be and they do not have any desire to find out. I’ve already asked…

Early this morning Nikon released two new FX format lenses into their wide angle range. The first one is AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED and the another is AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/4G ED VR. Both come with a built-in SWM (silent wave motor) for fast and quiet autofocusing. Both of the new lenses are already available on Nikon Global site with detailed technical specification.
The wide angle zoom (16-35mm f/4G ED VR) intrigues me. It offers 104-63 degree angle on FX format DSLR and 83-44 degree angle on DX format DSLR. It also has a VR II vibration reduction which increases the…

On day 10 of my Project 365 I took a photo of our kitchen. I don’t have a proper wide angle lens (yet) so I had to be creative. Here’s our white renovated kitchen from a special point of view.
Speaking of wide angle lenses… I currently have a Nikon kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR) with a widest angle of 76 degrees at 18mm. I would like to get a wider lens in the near future for interior and scenery photographs. I have a few options which fit into my strict budget. At the moment it’s quite difficult to say exactly…
